Young Leaders

When regarded from afar, the phenomenon of The Great Resignation isn't but a clear statement of generational discomfort, which seeks and demands a new formula for their lives. It is really a matter of Humanistic Environment. And in that new world, work is an important component but it doesn't mean only a form of livelihood or mere individual achievement.

Working must be a form of an open altruistic collaboration that would improve the community, the society, the world. Far from intending to present a generalist pyramid, in a broader perspective, this factor, the Humanistic Environment, is at its base, it is a priority and it will have a growing impact on the management and stabilization of talent, something that is making managers feel very worried.

There are more and more people quitting their jobs and organizing their lives in a different way, with other criteria, setting up other priorities in their individual pyramid.

This is a fantastic requirement for a positive evolutionary transition. It is a generational outcry, irreverent but unquestionable, and very welcome: if leaders are unable to change the world, we ourselves will! Because today it is more possible than ever.

Democratization, freedom of action, access to resources, and technology allow everyone to be more autonomous and independent than ever before. Free enterprise is democratized and accelerated.

4 Clear Effects of The Great Resignation

It is causing many people to flee from the big urban centers and seek to be closer to nature and have a completely different lifestyle. Think about this and its positive side because we have been trying to counter the desertification of certain places for years.

It is creating much more business initiative and self-employment. Why work for others, generate value for others when you can do it for yourself? - they rightfully ask. Why work for just one entity when you can diversify your source and improve your income?

It is making many people leave large organizations to embrace great causes, namely, social and environmental causes. People who assume they want to give important meaning to their daily activities, to their place in the world. The third sector - the school of sustainability - is growing like never before. It is teaching initiative and achievement.

It is prompting people to opt to work from home, and this means individual gain by cutting expenses and improving life quality. It also has implications for gas emissions, which accounts for advantages from the environmental point of view. For many companies, it means a transition in the function of the facilities in the short term, but a reduction in costs in the medium and long term if well managed.

How are companies dealing with unpredictable phenomenons?

Meanwhile, companies are getting mad, lost, or simply sticking their head in the sand. Or even worse: with their feet firmly buried at the bottom of the mountain, they are trying to stop a huge snowball rolling from its top at high speed. Get out of your comfort zone and face reality.

The organizational world that prevailed in recent times is also undergoing a Transformation or it is literally in turmoil.

Clearly, not every industry, not every sector has to fully embrace this reality. There will be room for each and every one of them. There are areas and industries that will be more deeply affected.

The good news is that such a paradigmatic change will bring a broader variety of solutions and cases. That will be quite important because the change will be far more inclusive as regards profiles and generations.

Everyone will have a space more suited to their convictions and lifestyles and that is fantastic.

Many organizations will have to promote an environment, or hybrid ecosystem and not focus on a static structure no matter how flexible it might be. It will be a huge leap. That is true. It will bring about big risks. Correct. But it is happening. And organizations will have to hurry and adopt new formulas since the speed of events, can jeopardize their sustainability or even their existence.

Dealing with the Unpredictable: The art of Bungee Jumping

Bungee Jumping

Nowadays, in my interaction with leaders of organizations, I still feel much resistance to the idea. I understand it because change can be scary and put too much at stake. They cause instability, uncertainty, and insecurity.

But I keep telling them that it is like bungee jumping: though you say you cannot do it, you go up. From the top, everything seems to be vertiginous. You walk to the edge, you hesitate, and you glance back for a supportive encouraging look. You have doubts but you know why you have gone up. Finally, we take the critical step and physics takes over, there is no turning back. Better to enjoy, have fun and make it an epic meaningful leap.

In addition, you can scream your head off and everyone around you will understand, and just like in bungee jumping, there is an extreme safety precaution that allows the jump. Much better than it was in its original tribal practice, which opened the way to this sport, where lianas and structures were pretty unreliable. Everything was in the hands of the gods. If you survived, they would be protecting you. Otherwise…

Anyway, the world has come a long way, and so has bungee jumping.
